IDOP Albert-Eden is a two-week celebration of older people in the community, with programming created by community groups and organisations. All events are FREE to attend.
In 2025, IDOP will be held between Wednesday 1 October to Wednesday 15th October.

Lantern Making

Moon Festival
Thursday 2 October, 10am – 12pm
Epsom Baptist Church – 4 Inverary Ave, Epsom
Celebrate Moon Festival with members of Epsom Chinese Association and residents in rest homes. There will be performances including singing, modern dance, folk dance, and Taichi. Participate in sitting Taichi and a tea ceremony demonstrating tea culture in China. Each participant will get a number to put in the box for lucky draw – over 20 prizes to be won! At the end of the event everyone is given a box of mooncake to take home.

A Senior Talent Showcase, where older adults can perform or share their skills, and a Digital Memory Wall, which will show stories, photos, and memories.
Both will be created with help from our youth volunteers from Bharatiya Mandir, as part of the Y-DOP (Young DISHA Older Persons) team. A new way to celebrate IDOP by using music, stories, and digital media to honour older people and build connections across generations.

Portraits and Painting with Creative Rume

Creative Lives Art Exhibition

Elizabeth Knox Home and Hospital – 10 Ranfurly Rd, Epsom
A vibrant showcase of the talent and creativity that flows through our community. This special exhibition will feature works by Knox residents alongside pieces created with our community partners. Attendees will also enjoy a selection of finger foods and beverages as we come together to celebrate creativity at every age. Throughout September, the Epsom Chinese Association, Creative Rume and Chartwell Trust will collaborate with Knox to deliver art sessions during the first two weeks of October. The resulting creations and residents’ own works will be proudly displayed at the exhibition.
